We believe that all children are individual; therefore the program is centred on the children’s interests, abilities and needs in a caring, safe and friendly environment.

Preschool Philosophy - What we are all about

We believe that all children are unique individuals. Our program is informed by each child’s interests, strengths, abilities and needs and is delivered within a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. The safety, rights and best interests of children are the paramount consideration in all decisions, actions and practices at our service.

Our service is a welcoming and nurturing place where children feel safe, secure and supported to engage in play-based learning. We are committed to upholding children’s wellbeing and creating environments that promote a strong sense of identity, belonging and confidence.

We foster respectful, responsive and trusting relationships that support children’s learning, development and wellbeing. Children are valued as capable and competent learners, and their voices, perspectives and agency are recognised and embedded within daily practice.

Learning is viewed as a collaborative and ongoing process. Children are supported to explore, investigate, experiment and problem-solve through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence.

Building with Blocks

We are committed to equity, inclusion and diversity. All children are treated with dignity and respect. We provide inclusive environments, experiences and resources that respond to individual needs, strengths, cultures and circumstances, supporting children to develop resilience and a positive sense of self.

We recognise families as children’s first and most influential teachers. We value respectful partnerships with families and communities, acknowledging their knowledge, culture and values, and work collaboratively to support children’s learning, wellbeing and safety.

Educators play a vital role in creating safe and supportive learning environments. Through warm, responsive and respectful interactions, educators support children’s play, guide behaviour positively and model inclusive practices, ensuring children feel safe, valued and supported at all times.

Child Safe Commitment

Our service is committed to providing a child safe environment where children are protected from harm, their voices are heard, and their safety, wellbeing and rights are respected. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and are committed to always acting in the best interests of all children.

What does my child do at Preschool and what is the routine?

Pre school gives your child an ideal opportunity to socialise with other children, experience familiar and challenging play related activities and to grow further in all developmental areas.

On arrival children are greeted by staff, they put away their belongings - bags and hats in their locker, their cup on the tray and lunchboxes in the fridge.

They are then free to choose any of the indoor activities available on the day - art and craft, manipulative material, home corner etc. Mid morning is time to help pack away in readiness for Group Time - songs, stories, discussions, games etc followed by morning tea. Outdoor play follows, then the children prepare for and have lunch then play outside again till approximately 2pm. We then pack up and go inside for quiet activities and games until it is time to come together for a story or songs before the bus children leave. The children who are still at preschool have fruit which is supplied for afternoon tea then choose quiet activities until home time. During the summer months the daily routine is reversed to avoid the midday sun.
